Progress Toward Global Eradication of Dracunculiasis, January 2019–June 2020

During January–June 2020, the number of human dracunculiasis cases reported decreased to 19 in four countries (Angola, Chad, Ethiopia, and Mali) with one case in Cameroon in a patient possibly infected in Chad; South Sudan reported no human cases.Infected dogs, especially in Chad, and impeded access because of civil unrest and insecurity in Mali and South Sudan remain challenges to interrupting transmission.
