World Mosquito Day 2020: The Spread of Anopheles stephensi and the Fight Against the World’s Deadliest Animal

August 20 is World Mosquito Day. CDC highlights a species called Anopheles Stephensi - an urban vector. Anopheles Stephensi orginating from Southern Asia is spreading in Eastern Africa where malaria cases have mostly been in rural habitats. The introduction of the new mosquito sepcies and the different niche pose new challenges. Now Public health workers are challenged with controlling both urban and rural malaria cases.
