Covid-19 could mark a deadly turn in Ghana's fight against fake drugs

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that one in 10 medical products circulating in low- and middle-income countries are either substandard or fake.  Darko, chief executive of Ghana’s Food and Drug Authority (FDA) noted "The current focus on curbing Covid-19 spread means there is less focus on routine market surveillance, this means there could be an influx across porous borders of substandard medical products – including those for Covid-19."
