On Feb 22, Brazil's federal government announced the construction of the country's first Indigenous hospital in Boa Vista, Roraima, among health measures to support emergency actions in the Yanomami territory in the country's Amazon region. “Our intention is to create the hospital as a backup, providing specialised, medium and high complexity care services”, said Weibe Tapeba, Secretary of Indigenous Health at the Ministry of Health, during the press conference. Although details about the new hospital are still under discussion, officials stated that the construction will be started this year.
