Dengue fever defies easy diagnosis. Over the years, the WHO has tried multiple times to develop comprehensive and effective diagnostic criteria for dengue. This article presents an investigation and analysis of existing data on 7,561 children gathered over 5 years from a prior prospective cohort study in 4 separate surveillance sites in Kenya.
