New WHO Interim Guidance – IPC for Routine Immunization during the BVD Outbreak
WHO has just released new interim guidance to help keep routine immunization services running safely during the Bundibugyo virus disease (BVD) outbreak:
With sincere thanks and appreciation to those who contributed to its development, This interim guidance document provides infection prevention and control considerations to support the safe planning and implementation of routine immunization activities during an outbreak of Bundibugyo virus disease. It is intended for national immunization programme managers, immunization planners, infection prevention and control focal points, public health authorities, health and care workers, vaccinators and partners in areas with active Bundibugyo virus disease outbreaks, and those neighboring countries and areas considered at risk. Annexes 1–5 provide practical tools and operational checklists to support implementation of the recommendations contained in this guidance.
